Eczema :(

We have been dealing with a very bad case of eczema with Clare for the last two months (if you look closely in all her pictures you will see it on her arms and legs). She has gotten two bacteria infections in it and she has been on antibiotics on and off over the last couple of months. We have four different creams we have tried her on and I have even modified my diet to see if that works. We feel so bad for her because she is always itching it and her skin is so inflamed. The pediatricians aren't sure what is causing it and are finally sending us to a dermatologist. If you have any thoughts or suggestions we would appreciate it. We hope we find a cure for it soon so that Clare won't be so uncomfortable. We may even end up going to an allergy specialist if the dermatologists has no suggestions.

Hi Karmelle,

It's Dawn Gagon, I got your blog spot from Katie & Cameron.

I HAD to comment on Claire's Eczema problem, I feel your pain. Our son Jordan also has eczema.

After many trips to the pediatrician, allery specialist, & dermatologist we found out he is allergic to dogs.

For treatment we have done a couple of things. First the pediatrician told us to buy cortizone cream at the store and put that on his "spots." She also gave us a prescription for bactroban for his really bad spots. (a couple of them got pussy and inflamed) We then went to the allery specialist who sent us to a dermatologist and ever since then things have been almost 100% better! The dermatologist gave us a prescription for 2% cortizone cream. (you can only buy 1% over the counter) and told us to use cetaphil liquid soap to wash him and cetaphil moisturizing cream to lube him up.

He still get flare ups every once in a while, especially when it is hot out, but we put the cortizone cream on it and usually within a day it is all cleared up.

Good luck, your not alone! :-)
